Mighty Angus

Mighty Angus

The Mighty Angus is a relatively new but extremely popular burger at most Canadian McDonald's restaurants. Many have often said it is like a McDonald's version of the Mozza Burger. It features a large angus patty, leaf lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and several other mouth-watering ingredients. So let's get started, beginning with the vegetables.

On the Mighty Angus, there are 3 great vegetables that really lighten the burger up. These include a piece of leaf lettuce, a slice of tomato, and grilled onions. The tomato and grilled onions are not very common on McDonald's burgers, and most McDonald's lettuce comes shredded (The only other burger I can think of right now that does have these ingredients is the Quarter Pounder BLT). That in itself makes this burger unique. I do not believe that using traditional McDonald's ingredients would help this burger at all, as it is spectacular the way it is.

The Might Angus bun is a great tasting toasted sesame seed bun. It also has a seed similar to pepper sprinkled on top, giving it a bit of extra flavour. Generally slightly crunchy on the outside, and cool and light on the inside, this bun goes great with the rest of the ingredients, and it doesn't tend to get soggy very easily, unlike the regular McDonald's buns.
The cheese on the Mighty Angus is the regular McDonald's processed cheese. It does taste very good, although I personally would've liked to see real cheese on this burger. It would just give it that bit of extra "oomph" that the other ingredients can't seem to give. However, the cheese still does add a lot of really good flavour, and the added texture with the slight gooeyness.

Although it may not be obvious when just looking at the Mighty Angus, the taste of 2 different meats becomes extremely apparent after taking a bite. Not only is there a large 100% Canadian Angus beef patty, but there is also delicious bacon bits that add that bacon flavour everybody loves.

Along with bacon pieces, the Mighty Angus also has a smoky barbecue sauce that amps up the flavour of the rest of the more bland ingredients. Slightly sweet, and very savoury, this sauce is a need on the Mighty Angus. It adds a bit of tang that pairs especially well with the tomato and the Angus patty.

Overall, I think the Mighty Angus is a really great burger. It has a strong meaty taste, that really is mighty. I would rate this a solid 8/10.
